Chalet Châtelet is a unique luxury eco-chalet in its own enchanting setting with commanding views over the picturesque Abondance valley, Portes du Soleil. The traditional, whole log chalet is built with the best quality natural materials using age-old craftsmanship to invoke an atmosphere of ultimate chalet chic. It is surrounded by a breathtaking panorama and is the perfect place to relax, unwind and take a break from it all. Our boutique-style chalet opens as a catered chalet during the ski season offering full week half-board holidays or short breaks. The rest of the year we are a guesthouse with the same high standard of personal service, proposing 5* B&B with evening meals on request. Whether you are looking for an exhilarating, adventure-packed mountain holiday, a serene healthy spa pampering, or simply a peaceful retreat, you are promised a very warm welcome and an unforgettable experience in stunning surroundings, which exude positive energy.
HAVEN OF TRANQUILITY
The three large bedrooms plus annex have more than enough space for 8 guests. Each room has its own special characteristics and atmosphere. Book one of our stylishly furnished bedrooms BED & BREAKFAST, or alternatively, reserve the exclusive use of all four, including our spacious open plan living room with huge southwest-facing balcony, for a CATERED CELEBRATION or HOUSE PARTY. The tranquil village, together with the chalet’s excellent natural sound insulation, insures that each bedroom is perfectly quiet. With comfortable mattresses and fine bed linen, you are certain to have a totally undisturbed night’s sleep. There are superb modern and romantic old French beds, bathrooms with deep baths and marble and granite detail, quality towels and robes, and delicious toiletries scented with the exquisite fragrances of Provençe.
LE CHALET
Chalet Châtelet stands alone in its acre of grounds on the edge of an authentic, alpine village of Bonnevaux. Central to the living area is the Tulikivi stove with its bread oven, which gently radiates warmth from its “stone with soul” 24/7 during the winter months, enhancing the homely ambience in the incredible log cabin interior. You can sink into the generous comfy sofas, or breathe in the pure mountain air on the sunny balcony. The high ceilings and large windows are an essential feature of the 3100ft2 chalet creating a voluminous, bright interior reflecting the whole spirit of this spectacular venue. There is a state of the art LED home cinema, broadband Wi-Fi, iPod docking, DVD and book library, games, and even a piano for music lovers. Sculptures and paintings blend with the eclectic mix of vintage modernist and antique French furniture adding to the charm of this bespoke mountain chalet.
VIVE LA FRANCE
The master bedroom, Vive la France on the first floor, has two windows giving a double aspect. This bedroom has a French continental king-size bed (160x200), an en suite bathroom with large shower, bidet and deep bath and a walk-in dressing room. The mountain views from Vive la France have incredible views east and south, and sun all day.
VIEUX CHALET
Vieux Chalet, on the second floor, is a double room facing west with a super-king bed (180x200) or twins, and a walk-in wardrobe. The en suite bathroom has a deep bath and bidet. Out of the window you can see the slopes of the village resort of Drouzin de Mont.
ATELIER DE L’HERMINE
Atelier de l'Hermine is the other triple room on the second floor with one super-king bed (180x200) or twins, a sofa bed and walk-in wardrobe. It has an artist's studio window looking eastwards up the Vallée d'Abondance towards Mont Grange and the Portes du Soleil ski slopes. As evening falls the sunset reflects on the mountain, the colour gradually deepening. There is a separate bathroom on this level, which has a deep bath and bidet, and the same incredible views.
GUESS WHAT
‘Guess What’ is a curtained-off annex with an antique French wooden single bed and tiled shower. Combined with L’Atelier triple bedroom, it can be booked as a spacious family suite with private bathroom and shower.
